LORE Media & Arts & Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company accompanied by Nannette Brodie Dance Theatre presents a spectacular performance of dance, music, art, and ancestral ritual. Audiences will be transported through different regions of Mexico and its richness and wonderment of cultures while honoring the origins of Dia de Los Muertos’ celebration of life, loss, and remembrance.

LORE Media & Arts – Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company presents an unforgettable performance of dance, music, art, and ritual that will take audiences on a voyage of emotions, movement, and sound that celebrate the rich traditions of Dia de Los Muertos. Fiesta de Muertos y Danza will feature original and new works from Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company, Los Angeles’ premier Folklorico dance company with a special ensemble by Nannette Brodie Dance Theatre. Intermixed in the program will be iconic folk art installations, sculptured sugar skulls, and altars by Dia de los Muertos art specialist Lore Media & Arts. The program invites the audience to celebrate death as a natural phase in life’s continuum and to honor the traditions of Mexican and Native Mesoamerican cultures.
Dia de Los Muertos is a Mexican holiday observed throughout Mexico and around the world which centers on remembering friends and family who have passed away.
GRANDEZA MEXICANA FOLK BALLET COMPANY (GMFBC) is an NPO performing arts organization. The company was founded by Jose Vences in 2003. GMFBC was formed to advance the field of Mexican folk ballet, enhance the public’s appreciation for the diversity and depth of Mexican culture, and to present high-quality dance productions. Currently, Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company has more than 30 dancers.
With signature pride in the rich national culture, GMFBC presents high-caliber dance productions that represent the diverse regions of Mexico. Whether choreographic works depict celebrations, ceremonies, or daily rituals, they are a colorful slice of the flavor of Mexico. Nannette Brodie Dance Theatre is a modern dance company of drama, wit, joy, and invention. Nannette Brodie is the artistic director and principal choreographer for the company. According to Brodie, “Dance should be a celebration, an exploration of ourselves and our environment, of our culture and our world.” NBDT has given performances for more than 275,000 people, both within the Southern California area and by touring nationally and internationally, averaging 15 to 25 performances a year.
