about this event

Kat Edmonson has emerged as one of the most distinctive performers in contemporary American music. The vintage pop and jazz vocalist’s new album Dreamers Do is out February 7, 2020 with a forty-city, U.S. tour to follow. The album blends original compositions and reimagined mid-20th century classic Disney songs, and tells a story which takes place over the course of one sleepless night.

With a sweetly mellifluous soprano—echoing Blossom Dearie’s lighter-than-air approach—and her gift for evocative songwriting, Edmonson is a rare artist who embodies the spirit of the past while remaining resolutely fashionable. The Texas native and Brooklyn transplant forged her sound playing small rooms and clubs before touring worldwide and performing with Lyle Lovett, Chris Isaak, Jamie Cullum, and Gary Clark Jr. Her unusually charming and seamless blend of old and new has garnered attention on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts, PBS’ Austin City Limits, and American Public Media’s A Prairie Home Companion.

In 2018, Edmonson released her cinematically inspired fourth album, Old Fashioned Gal, to warm critical acclaim. Billboard called it “an intimate journey from doubt to resolve and implied triumph.”
