Smokestack Lightning is made up of all Gila River Indian Community members, who have been together since 2009. Their album Soul Left Blind was nominated for a 2011 Native American Music Award (NAMMY) for Best Blues Recording. In 2014, they came in second place in the Arizona Blues Showdown and took home a first-place win in 2015.
