about this event

Mixing Hollywood flair with the element of surprise, Talk Cinema offers sneak previews of new independent and foreign films from Cannes, Sundance, Toronto and other internationally ranked film festivals, personally selected by nationally recognized film critic Harlan Jacobson. His selections may include an award-winning drama, an outrageous indie comedy, a provocative documentary or the next breakout hit. Audiences are among the first to see new movies and then engage in critical discussions led by film scholars and special guests.

The incredible true story of legendary dancer Rudolf Nureyev is brought vividly to life by Academy Award® nominee Ralph Fiennes and BAFTA winning screenwriter David Hare. The film takes the audience through Nureyev’s poverty-stricken childhood in the Soviet city of Ufa, Russia to his blossoming as a student dancer in Leningrad. Audiences will watch Nureyev’s nail-biting escape from the KGB and defection to the West at the height of the Cold War. The White Crow is a gripping, revelatory look at a unique artist who transformed the world of ballet forever.
